Four things we do, and nothing we do not.

No siding, no windows, no solar. Shingle roofs, the flat roofs attached to them, the gutters that drain them, and the repairs in between. That is the whole list.

Asphalt shingle replacement

Full tear-off to the deck, new ice and water shield at eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment, then GAF Timberline HDZ or Owens Corning Duration in the color you pick from a sample board on your porch. Most ranches and split-levels are torn off and finished in one day.
Roof repair

Missing tabs after a wind storm, nail pops, cracked pipe boots, chimney and wall flashing that was caulked instead of stepped. Repairs are priced flat after we see the damage, and most are finished on the first visit from stock on the truck.
Flat roofs on garages and additions

Modified bitumen or EPDM rubber on detached garages, dormers, porch roofs and rear additions. We add tapered insulation where water ponds and tie the flat section into the shingle roof properly, which is where most of the leaks we are called for started.
Gutters

Seamless 5-inch and 6-inch aluminum gutters run on site from the truck, hidden hangers every 24 inches, and downspouts routed at least four feet off the foundation. We install gutters on their own or with a new roof, and we clean out what we replace.

I started Northwest Roof Co in 2011 with one truck and a borrowed dump trailer. Today it is two trucks and six guys, and four of them have been with me more than eight years. We do not use subcontractors, and the crew you meet at the estimate is the crew that shows up on job day.

If I tell you a roof needs a repair and not a replacement, it is because I looked at the decking and the attic myself, not because a salesman wants the bigger ticket. About a third of the calls we get in Des Plaines and Park Ridge end up as repairs. That is fine with me. You will call us when the roof is actually done.

Everything we quote is in writing, line by line, and the price on the estimate is the price on the invoice.

How an estimate works here.

Seven steps, no sales presentation. You will know what your roof needs, what it costs, and when it can happen, all in writing, within two business days of the inspection.

Repairs follow the same steps, they just move faster. Most repair estimates are handed to you before we leave the driveway.

Start with the form

You call or send the form. Tom calls back the same business day and sets a time, usually within two or three days, earlier after a storm.
Tom walks the roof. He checks shingles, flashing, boots and vents, then looks in the attic for daylight and staining. Every problem area is photographed for you.
You get a written, itemized estimate within 48 hours. Tear-off, decking allowance per sheet, underlayment, shingle line and color, flashing, ventilation, disposal and permit, with one total at the bottom.
The price holds for 30 days. No sign-today discount, no follow-up calls every afternoon. Ask questions by phone or email and get straight answers.
We pull the permit and set a date. Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Mount Prospect, Niles, Morton Grove and Glenview all require one. Materials are delivered the day before.
Job day. Dump trailer in the driveway, tarps over the landscaping and AC unit, and a magnet sweep of the lawn and driveway before the trucks leave.
After. Photos of the finished roof, the manufacturer warranty registered in your name, and Tom's cell number for anything that comes up.
